Trevor Griffiths
Playwright Trevor Griffiths brought Diss Museum 's Tom Paine Festival to a close with a talk at the United Reformed Church. He spoke about adapting his Paine film script for radio and the stage and read extracts, followed by a discussion with the audience. After visiting the museum earlier in the day, he asked for a copy of the Guide to the Local Language. Museum manager Basil Abbott said, "He wished he had had it before. He said he would take it to rehearsals at the Globe Theatre in case the dialogue needed some Norfolk colour. If you hear Tom Paine saying Duzzy hyke! Or Hold you hard, old partner! you will know where it came from.” Trevor Griffiths' play A New World opens at the Globe Theatre at the end of August. The Tom Paine Festival, which began last November, featured over 20 events and drew nearly 1,800 people.
