Hi I'm Bill Ellis
The home page for Bill Ellis
I'm a American retired science policy consultant who held positions in The U.S. National Science Fundation, UNESCO, and TheWorld Bank before I left the rat race 30+ years ago to work for Non-Governmental Organization on alternative and transformatioal movements.
I've been an active proponent of social change through grassroots "Appropriate Technologies" since I was a founding member of TRANET (A Trannsnational Network for AT at the U.N. Conference on Human Settlements in 1976. Since 2000 I have been the facilitator of the network "Creating Learning Communities" that holds that schools are a major hinderance to social change.[You can read about it on www.CreatingLearningCommunities.org.
Currently I am drafting a book "A Gaian Paradigm" that explores many actions that are producing a major new foundation for major cultural transitions. Draft chapters are on the files of a Yahoo list "AGaianParadigm."
What I like about Diss:
This is my first exposure. But Gary's Book seems to be a precurser to my own.
What changes I would like to see in Diss:<
None to express yet.
How I am trying to live a more sustainable life:
I live as minimally as I can. I grow much of my own food, plant nut trees in local parks, initiated a local food coop, and a peer lending program.
What I want for a better future:
I believe that the growing social innovations that empower people at the grassroots and promote community solidariity and self-reliance will become the mainstream of future societies.
