London 1923, beautiful morning. Clarissa Dalloway goes shopping for flowers for her party that evening. She is visited by a former suitor, Peter Walsh, recently returned from India, bringing back memories of her youth in the country. The day closes with her fashionable party, but elsewhere in London tragedy approaches.
Eileen Atkins’ award winning script does full justice to Virginia Woolf’s novel of manners and morality; Vanessa Redgrave (Mrs Dalloway) and Michael Kitchen (Walsh) are masterful.
