Hoxne Swan

The Swan Inn is one of the best-known public houses and restaurants in Suffolk, situated in the sleepy, picturesque village of Hoxne.
Built in 1480 for the Bishop of Norwich, The Swan has a long history whereby both the restaurant and bars aptly reflect Hoxne's ecclesiastical past with their ornate ceiling beams, 10ft inglenook fireplace and ancient wide-planked floors.
The Grade II listed pub hosts a relaxed bar has two solid oak counters, heavy oak floors, and a deep-set inglenook fireplace; you can still see the ancient timber and mortar of the walls. A fire in the back bar divides the bar area and snug, and an original wooden fireplace can be found in the restaurant.
Landlords David and Jo-Ann, together with their Head Chef Sue Fulcher, ensure that the menu consists of fresh, local and seasonal produce prepared on the premises. The full menu is available at lunchtimes, but there are lighter options to choose from such as filled organic bread baguettes (£6.75) and home-made soup (£4.00). Also on offer are British classics such as Fish and Chips (£9.50), Home-made Beef pie (£10.50), and Casserole (£11.95) accompanied with a daily changing specials board. The Swan is also vegetarian friendly, with at least 5 vegetarian options always available.
The Swan serves a wide range of ales, wines and spirits. Adnams Bitter, Broadside, Woodfordes Wherry and a guest beer are all available on hand pump.
To the rear of the pub there is a large beer garden beside a small stream, and there are also two sheltered patio areas, with wooden benches and large parasols. Ample car parking is available.
The Swan also hosts an annual beer festival, showcasing award-winning beers from across the UK. Other regular events at The Swan include a monthly Pudding Club evening, outdoor theatre performances, monthly quiz night and live music featuring local bands.
