Farmers' Market and launch of Taste of Diss
  • All the usual stalls of quality local produce, many with tastings
  • Street theatre with the Diss Food Inspectors and the Fairly Fresh Food Company
  • (12:30 pm - 1:30 pm) Fancy dress for children: All who come dressed as a fruit or a vegetable
    will get a bag of goodies. Singing procession down High Street.
  • Balloon race.
  • Live music
  • (1 pm) Grand opening of Taste of Diss by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Diss

Norfolk House Yard and Cobb's Yard: A lively series of happenings with street theatre, musicians,

Grand finale: Exhibition of local food - Free entry
  • Stalls from pickles to pork, from cheese to chocolate, cake to steak, beer to beef.
    All are local and use the best ingredients for their produce.
  • Judging of the professional and amateur cookery competition with display of entries.
    (Children's category in the cookery competition is to present a school lunch box using locally sourced food.)
  • Historic exhibit of WW2 food entitled "Digging for Victory" by Jan Bensley.
  • Children's activities: making Lavender Pockets as well as lavender recipes and other uses for lavender e.g. for keeping moths away!
  • Another stallholder will be teaching the children to make butter out of cream.
  • Two organic vegetable suppliers of household box schemes.
  • A young children's cookery activity in the Waveney room, together with an art display of paintings which they should bring with them.
  • Refreshments available.
